Charles L. Nelson, D.D.S.

Dr. Chuck Nelson graduated from Indiana University with a degree in biological science. He received his dental degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1976 and completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Indiana University Medical Center in 1979. While a student and in residency training, he received several awards for scholastic achievement including being listed in Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. Upon completion of his training he served as Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Carswell Air Force Base, Texas where he attained the military rank of major and was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service.

Dr. Nelson is certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is on the staff of Hendricks Community Hospital and Clarian.

Dr. Nelson joined the faculty of Indiana University School of Dentistry and Medical Center in 1982. He became Director of the Residency Training Program and served as Chairman of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He was also the Assistant Director of the Craniofacial Anomalies Team at James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children. He published twenty-two articles in professional journals relating to the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery and authored chapters in five textbooks. He has lectured widely throughout the country at dental schools, hospitals, and professional meetings.

Dr. Nelson was raised in Plainfield and lives in the Avon area. He and his wife have one son and one daughter. In his spare time he enjoys woodworking and golf.
